Gerald Denver Jackson of Harrisonville Missouri was born February 21, 1934 in Holcolm MO and went to meet his Lord on June 4, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. Gerald was preceded in death by unborn baby boy Jackson of Cedar Lake Indiana, father Raymond Jackson of Holcolm MO, mother Gladys Haynes Jackson Eddington and stepfather Ted Eddington both of Newport AR, two brothers JW Jackson and Bill Eddington both of Newport AR, and two sisters Doris Jean Sutherland and Barbara Roberts both of Vidalia LA.
Gerald leaves behind his beautiful wife of 61 years, his “gem” Annette McCoy Jackson of Harrisonville MO. Gerald also leaves behind four children Pam Jackson, Harrisonville MO; David Hunter, N. Little Rock AR; Denny Jackson, Archie MO; Jeff Jackson, Garden City MO; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful faithful friends.
Gerald was an avid fisherman and had many close fishing buddies, some waiting for him in eternity and some left behind, especially his grandsons. He also shared his love of music for many years starting at age 13 with a cheap guitar purchased from Western Auto. Daddy would tell the story of how he could remember sitting in a tree practicing the guitar because he sounded so bad no one wanted him playing in the house. He later became an accomplished musician being able to play any instrument he picked up. Gerald played in many bands, recordings, and entertaining live on the radio; he opened for some of the best country stars in his day, and later for many nursing homes where he loved BIG and received much love as well.
Being unable to represent his country in arms, he served through politics. Gerald completed multiple terms as City Alderman and/or City Mayor for Garden City MO, Creighton MO, Urich MO, and Tuckerman AR. As honorary Mayor for Del Rio TX, he was able to complete two projects where they provided school supplies for the children of Ciudad Acuña, Mexico. Daddy never served for personal gain, and his goal was always being to make a better community to be passed on to our next generation. Gerald left this world knowing he certainly fulfilled this goal in his communities.
Gerald left a beautiful testimony of living life with no regrets, passing into eternity with a smile on his face and loved ones holding him tightly. He will be greatly missed. A family celebration of his life will be held at a later time. Condolences to the family may be sent to: PO Box 203 Urich MO 64788.
