Grace Evelyn Matter

Grace Evelyn Matter of Cleveland, Missouri formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri was born January 3, 1939 in Adrian, Missouri the daughter of Max Thomas and Grace Pauline (Pulliam) Gibb. She departed this life on Friday, July 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 27 days.

Evelyn was employed as an office manager for Rolox Windows, Grandview, Missouri. Earlier she had been a clerk at Bi-Rite Grocery in Harrisonville, Missouri. Evelyn loved fishing, gardening, humming birds and children. She enjoyed cooking and baking, attending family reunions and hosting Christmas get togethers.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Julia Grissom on December 28, 2020; a great-grandson, Carter McKechan; two brothers, Max and Danny Gibb and a sister, RoseAnna Scarborough.

Evelyn is survived by her lifetime companion, Dee Hewitt of the home; a son, Rick Matter and wife Carmen, Archie, Missouri; a daughter, Lorraine Lackey and husband David, Osceola, Missouri; a step-son, Chad Hewitt and his companion Traci Fuller, Cleveland, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Paul, Melanie, Crystal, April, Carrie, Ricky, Josh, Max, Nicholas, Brielee and Bradley; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and two on the way; other relatives and friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
