Guy Clifford King, of Archie, Missouri, was born June 7, 1921 near Garden City, Missouri, the son of Leroy Cleveland and Dora Jane (Westendorff) King. He departed this life Friday, July 6, 2007, Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville at the age of 86 years and 29 days.
On August 23, 1963, Guy was united in marriage to Anna Maye (Day) Hedges in Archie, Missouri.
Guy was a farmer and dairyman until his retirement in 1973. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Dayton Community Church, Dayton, Missouri and the American Legion Post #498, Garden City. Guy loved to go dancing, do woodworking, make wine and being outdoors especially fishing and working in his garden. He had lived in Garden City before moving to Archie in 1963.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Arlys Darlene (Sisk) Askew on March 12, 1995; a step-son, Bret Kelly Hedges on July 17, 1954; a step-great-grandson, Zachary A. Burton on September 26, 2006; four brothers, Edgar, Frank , Robert and Clyde King; an infant brother and a sister, Juanita Kerr.
He is survived by his wife, Anna M. King of the home; a step-son, Ron Hedges and wife Linda, Havensville, Kansas; two step-daughters, Audry M. Koechner and husband Carl, Carrollton, Missouri, Paula A. Swortwood and husband Terry, New Smyrna Beach, Florida; 13 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother Glenn King and a sister, Faye Zimmerman both of Adrian, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City.
