Harry Lee Guy, 75 of Grandview, Mo. died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the KC Hospice House. He was born September 4, 1940 in Kansas City, Mo. son of Virginia (Asbury) Guy and step-father Richard Guy.
Harry graduated from Southeast High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era 1963 through 1965. He worked in the fiscal agency at the Federal Reserve Bank for 16 years and then as an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance for 15 years. Lastly, Harry retired from the Federal Records Center in 2000 after a 5 year tenure. He was a member of the Oak Park Christian Church. He was one of the first and youngest boy scouts to receive the God and Country Award in Kansas City. Harry lived 39 years in Grandview, Mo. and was a lifetime resident of the KC area. He loved hunting and fishing; a favorite past time was listening to and watching auto racing for 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, step-father and an aunt, Faye Thompsen of Lee's Summit, Mo.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlesine, of the home. Three daughters, Renee Graham, Oak Grove, Mo., Rhonda Baker (John) Osceola, Mo. and Laurie Guy Massengill (Conley) Oak Park, Il. Five grandsons, Aaron, Jacob and Trent Makings, Odessa, Mo., Zachary Graham, Lee's Summit, Mo., Caleb Graham, Springfield, Mo. One sister, Aleana Knowles, Lenexa, Ks. and one nephew, Dean Jenkins, Lenexa, Ks., as well as a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or the Wounded Warriors.
