Hazel L. Crust

Mrs. Hazel Lorene Crust, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born October 18, 1921 in Altoona, Missouri the daughter of William Elmer and Gertie Lee (Fahnestock) Hendricks. She grew up and went to school in Bates County graduating from Adrian High School. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 4 days.
On December 16, 1940, Hazel was united in marriage to Don Willard Crust. They lived in Garden City, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville in 1948 where they were farmers.
Hazel’s passion in life was her family, cooking, being a seamstress and homemaker. She was an award winning leader in the DBS 4-H Club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Crust on July 3, 2001; an infant daughter, Caroline; her brothers, Orville, Obe and G.Y. Hendricks; a sister, Lola Marie and an infant brother.
Hazel is survived by three sons, Ronald Keith Crust of the home, Wendell Wayne “Bud” Crust and wife Barbara, Harrisonville, William Bert Crust, Independence, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and countless friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
