Ina Mae Davis

March 12, 1934 — January 18, 2017

Mae Davis, 82 was born March 12, 1934 at the old Stewart farm in Cross Timbers, MO. She was the first daughter of the late Orval and Faye Admire. Mae gave up her life struggles on January 18, 2017 at the Golden Years Health center in Harrisonville, MO. She is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Scott, Grandson Ryan, Brother Walter and two sisters Chloe Dean and Orvaleen.
Mae’s journey through life was filled with a lot of fun, excitement and a few heart breaks. She talked many times about growing up in the Pomme de Terre river Valley as a child with her brother Walter, and the fun they had fishing and roasting a rabbit in the barn. Which I might add, they did get a whopping for. At the age of 14 Mae’s first job was working as a car hop at a drive-in in Marshall. But, one of the most exciting times in her life was when she met that softball coach Scott Davis. She and a couple of her friends joined up with that Soft ball team and played many ball tournaments throughout the region. Mae loved playing ball. After graduating from Malta Bend High School she moved to Kansas City with the team and her first real job was working at Hallmark Cards. At the age of 21, she married that softball coach, becoming Scott’s wife on May 20th, 1955.
Mae and Scott made their home in the Marlborough community in Kansas City. Their Daughter Debbie joined the family in 1958 and then along came Jim in 1961. The Davis family was complete. Mae’s home was always open to anyone who needed a home away from home. During the 60’s it was not unusual for two or three additional people living with them. Family members on her side and the Beck side of the family from Cross Timbers stayed with Mae and Scott while they found employment in Kansas City. Everyone was welcome at the Davis home.
Mae went to work for Avon in 1966. She worked there for 19 years until the company moved out of state. While working there she became an avid bowler and enjoyed being a member of many bowling leagues in Kansas City. The family lived in Belton for many years, and she later worked for the Missouri Public Services. While living in Harrisonville, she worked at WalMart.
Her and Scott always enjoyed fishing with their family and many friends, it was not unusual for them to spend a weekend camping on Mill Creek at the mouth of the Pomme de Tere river. Mae cherished her family and especially adored her grandchildren. When you saw Mae out and about, you always saw a grandchild. Many weekends at their summer home in Cross Timbers, you would find Ryan, Allysha, Daniel and even Jenny & Michael Admire.
Mae is going to be missed by all of us. She spent much time with her 8 grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren along with her Kids, Debbie and Brad Humston and Jim and Brenda Davis. Her Brother, John Admire and Sister Edna Lea will hang onto the fond memories of those times at the farm playing rummy and visiting relatives. Her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and friends at Foxcroth will continue to celebrate her life.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial will be in the Belton Missouri Cemetery, Belton, Missouri.
The family received friends Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the ASANA Hospice.
