Iva Dale (Covington) Moore departed this world on June 3, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Rehabilitation Center, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Iva was born August 17, 1929, in Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Johnny and Carrie Covington. She joined 4 brothers and 3 sisters. They grew up in the hills where times were not easy. Despite the hardships, love abounded. She learned to be a caring person which showed in later life.
In 1948, she married Elbert “Bud” Moore. They moved to Kansas City and began a family. Wanting a more rural life for the children, they moved to Freeman, Missouri, in 1960 where Iva became caretaker to her neighbors while raising four children and two nieces. Iva's kindness did not go unnoticed by others. One day, she received a note from a store owner who refused payment for her purchase. The note thanked her for all she did for others in the community. She also worked at Peterson Manufacturing until she retired in 1990. Upon retirement, she discovered a passion for quilting and spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert on December 23, 1983; two grandsons, Michael Moore and Daryl Bourland Jr.; 4 brothers, Floyd, Robert, Orville and Marvin; three sisters, Annie, Ruby and Emily.
