Ivan Wendell Tyler

Mr. Ivan Wendell Tyler, of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Monday, November 24, 2008 in his home. Ivan was born on June 1, 1932 in Morristown, Tennessee to Raeford Ambrose and Gladys Rhea (Pratt) Tyler.
Ivan married his wife, Lela Marie Tyler in Greenville, Tennessee on October 28, 1954, after meeting in Harrisonville, Missouri. They honeymooned in the Great Smokey Mountains, and they were blessed with two children.
The family predominately presided in Missouri as Ivan and Lela worked various jobs to provide for their family. They frequently traveled and enjoyed attending car races as well. Ivan loved animals and thoroughly enjoyed befriending and caring for both tame and wild creatures. He also loved the outdoors and spent time fishing, hunting, gardening and riding his 4-wheeler. He often times listened to Country Music, not the modern version, but the ?real? Country Music. Most weekends he could be found watching nearly any type car races on TV.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lela Marie (Koeller) Tyler, his parents, and one sister, Azalea Trent of Bean Station Tennessee.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Sullivan, of Mission, Kansas; and his son Verlin W. Tyler and wife Brenda Tyler; of Sedalia, Missouri. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Nicole Wallen, Danielle Healy, Jenae Tyler, Marcia Miller, Stephanie Sullivan, and Logan Tyler; two step-grandsons, Brady and Bryce Collier; and three great-grandchildren, Evan Wallen, Charlotte Wallen, and Quistis Miller.
Ivan is survived by five sisters, Loweta Emert, Virginia Bible, and Peggy Gustke, all of Dandridge Tennessee. Sisters Nadine Courtney from Morristown Tennessee and Arlene Carter of Dalton Georgia. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law and his wife, Ivan and Geri Koeller, of Billings Montana.
Ivan will be missed here on Earth, as a Dad, Grandpa, Brother and friend. But he has now reunited with his family in Heaven, where there is no more pain or suffering, only joy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery south of Harrisovnille.
