Jack R. Brown Sr.

Jack Richard Brown Sr. of Garden City, Missouri was born January 8, 1942 near Garden City the son of Aggie Fielding and Monnie Marie (Grimsley) Brown. He departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by love and family at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 1 day.
On December 11, 1960 Jack was united in marriage to Carol Ann French in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jack was employed as a truck driver for American Century Transport in Kansas City until his retirement. He was an Army veteran, a member of Index Masonic Lodge #54 A.F. & A.M, Garden City, a Royal Arch Mason, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, served several terms on the Garden City City Council. Jack enjoyed his family, reading, laughing and napping. He had lived in Kansas City and Adrian, Missouri before moving to Garden City in 1990.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Cleatis Brown; two sisters, Carmon Heckadon and Sherry Leonard.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carol Brown of the home; three sons, Jack Brown and Danny Brown both of Independence, Missouri, Cleatis Brown and wife, Marjie, Garden City, Missouri; a daughter, Roberta Taylor and husband, Jeff, Independence, Missouri; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Shirley White, Creighton, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held, Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City. Military Honors by the Harrisonville Honor Guard.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice, Kansas City, Missouri.
