Jackie “Jack” Gerald Powell of Garden City, Missouri was born September 4, 1946 in Harrisonville, Missouri the son of Vernon Lewis and Margaret Marie (Jones) Powell. He departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2012 near Garden City, Missouri due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 9 days.
Jack was employed doing waterproofing by Reed Restoration, Grandview, Missouri. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Jack loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and antiquing. He had been a lifelong area resident of Garden City.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Powell.
Jack is survived by two sons, Bob Powell and wife Annie, Cleveland, Missouri, Michael Powell and wife Amy, Holt, Missouri; three daughters, Cheryl Powell and JoAnn Powell both of Raytown, Missouri and Jill Powell, East Lynne, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Jay, Betty, Marg, Dave, Linda, Leary and Donna; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
