James A Holzbaur

y, Missouri. He departed this life at 9:34 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his home surrounded with love and family.
Jim was a United States Air Force Korean War Veteran.
On August 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Patsy JoAnn Canard in Independence, Missouri.
He was a union meat cutter having worked for Safeway and later Hy-Vee. He was a proud member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3118, Pleasant Hill.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Opal Esther Holzbaur.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn of the home; one daughter Debbie Jones and her husband Jim of Pleasant Hill; one son James Holzbaur, Jr. and his wife Mary of Oak Grove; five grandchildren, Blaine Bunch, Jr. of Pleasant Hill, Hollie Youngblood and her husband Richard of Pleasant Hill, Danielle Jones of East Lynne, Megan Jones of Pleasant Hill, and Jamie Kelley and her husband T.J. of Blue Springs; three great grandchildren, Cooper Youngblood, Gavin Youngblood, and Mason Wright; other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Stanley-Dickey funeral home. Reverend William Boren of the Cross Pointe Baptist Church officiated. A Final Salute ceremony was performed by the Pleasant Hill VFW Post#3118. Graveside military services and interment were held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force and the VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Blaine Bunch,Jr., Mike Dains, James Holzbaur, Jr., Jim Jones, T.J. Kelley, and Richard Youngblood.
Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
