James Arthur Pippen

James Arthur ?Jim? Pippen of Archie, Missouri was born December 22, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Arthur A and Irene (Palmer) Pippen. He departed this life on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at St. John?s Breech Regional Medical Center, Lebanon, Missouri at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 10 days.
On May 20, 1967, Jim was united in marriage to Vera Sue Flanery at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
Jim was a produce manager for Safeway ? Food Barn in Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Dayton Community Church near Garden City, Missouri and was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Jim enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and mowing. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and was a perfectionist in everything that he completed. He was affectionately called Grandpa Pa Pa by the youngest granddaughter. Jim had lived in Grandview, Missouri for 30 years before moving to the farm near Archie in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur and a brother, Kirby Pippen.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sue Pippen of the home; three daughters, Lori Blau and husband, Bob, Independence, Missouri, Jenni Smith and husband, Nathan, Raymore, Missouri, Joni Ray and husband, David, Archie, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tanner, Aubrey, Ashlyn, Aaron, Holly, Chase and Justin; his mother, Irene Pippen, Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggest memorial contributions may be made to the Paradice Outfitters Ministry.
