James Leroy French of Harrisonville, Missouri was born October 9, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of George Otho and Maurene Adel (White) French. He departed this life on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at his home in Harrisonville at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 4 days.
On July 28, 1984 James was united in marriage to the love of his life, Eva Lucille Wright in Independence, Missouri.
James was a custodian for Belvidere Elementary School in Grandview, Missouri until his retirement in 1995. Earlier he was employed as a truck driver and at Welborn Grocery Store in Drexel, Missouri. He was an Army veteran from 1955 to 1962 being stationed in Hawaii. James was an elder and member of the First Christian Church, Drexel, Missouri. He enjoyed his family, gardening, animals, going on joy rides with his wife and just being around people.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Eva on November 7, 2007; a sister, Audrey M. Cox.
James is survived by his daughter, Tina M. Thompson and husband, Clifton, Archie, Missouri; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Rachael Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hailee Cooper; three brothers, Clarence French, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Forest French, San Antonio, Texas, Bruce French, Cole Camp, Missouri; four sisters, Edith Thomas, Carol Brown, Libbie Longacre all of Garden City, Missouri, Barbara Tabor, Creighton, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Honor Guard.
