James L. 'Jim' Vallee

August 27, 1941 — April 21, 2016

James L Vallee, 74, of Harrisonville, Missouri died April 21, 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Marie and two sons, David of Columbia, MO and Ken and his wife Kourtney of Peculiar, MO. He is also survived by his mother in-law, Lillian Strack and brother in-law Larry Strack and his wife Dorothy Strack. Two nephews Keith Strack (Erin), Lewis Robinson and a niece, Linda Robinson also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents D.M and Leta (Stocker) Vallee and his sister Betty Robinson.

Jim was born August 27, 1941 on the family farm outside Salisbury, MO. He attended Salisbury High School where he was active in FFA and earned the Degree of State Farmer in 1959. After graduating from high School. he attended the University of Missouri. Jim joined the Army National Guard in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1969. Jim moved to Harrisonville in 1968 to manage the Lee Theatre and Cass County Drive In. He operated the Southland Coin Laundry in Harrisonville for 36 years and the Village Coin Laundry in Pleasant Hill for 19 years. He also owned and managed rental property.

Jim and Marie were married August 2, 1969 and blessed with two sons, David and Ken.

His entire family including his parents, sister, and in-laws moved to Harrisonville by 1992. Jim loved playing bridge at MU. His love of card games continued throughout his life whether it was playing cards at home with his family or the weekly game after the Optimist meeting or playing pitch at the Country Club and then the Senior Citizen Center with his friends. Jim became a Master Gardner in 2011 after years of growing and sharing his plants with anyone that stepped into his laundries. He watered the plants/flowers at the Cass County Medical Center for several summers. Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church. He had been a member of the Harrisonville Optimist Club and Harrisonville Kiwanis Club.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Family suggests contributions may be made to the Jerry Tabb Memorial Scholarship or to the Cass County Senior Citizens Center.

Final arrangements entrusted to Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
