Jamie Sue (Webster) Lee, of Harrisonville, Missouri, died Sunday, March 25, 2007 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Jamie was born January 6, 1956, in Harrisonville, Missouri. She graduated from Harrisonville High School. After raising her son and daughter, Travis and Michael Hillmer, she attended Avila University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Education. She earned her Masters degree in Education from Webster University.
In 1995, Jamie joined the Raymore-Peculiar School District and taught at Ray-Pec in third, fifth and sixth-grade classrooms for the next 12 years. She was a gifted and well-loved teacher. She excelled at teaching the complexities of science and math as well as the simple lessons of honesty, fairness and respect. Jamie has influenced hundreds of young people with her passion for learning, her unique style of teaching and her genuine interest in their lives and well-being.
On December 23, 2000, Jamie married Vance Richard Lee and they spent the last seven years of life happily pursuing their shared plans and dreams. They loved to travel, and when Vance introduced Jamie to scuba diving, a new passion came to life. When Jamie was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, they fought the fight arm-in-arm. Jamie and Vance faced her illness with intelligence, resourcefulness, resiliency and hope.
Jamie is survived by her husband, Richard; her parents, Gracie and Forrest Webster and a sister, Tammy Farr all of Harrisonville; son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Lisa Hillmer and grandson, Jordan Hillmer, Lees Summit, Missouri; daughter, Michael Hillmer, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; stepson and stepdaughter, Amanda Lee and Nicholas Lee, Buckner, Missouri; two nephews, Eric Farr, Harrisonville, Missouri, and Jeremy Farr, his fiance Whitney Mikkelsen and son Tyler Farr, Lees Summit, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Jamie Lee Scholarship Fund and may be left at the Dickey Funeral Home.
Cremation. A memorial service was held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the First Christian Church, Harrisonville with inurnment in the Orient Cemetery.
