Janice Faye McAlister long time resident of Harrisonville, Mo passed away November 9, 2012 at her home. Janice was born July 13, 1948 in Trenton, Mo the daughter of George and Letty Veach McAlister. Janice attenteded grade school and graduated from high school in Harrisonville in the Class of 1966.
Janice was employed at Trails End Saddlery in Des Moines, IA and The Family Center in Harrisonville and Versailles Mo.
Janice married Larry Campbell in September 24, 1966 at the Hatton Chapel Methodist Church in Tenton, Mo. To this union Tracy Faye Campbell was born in 1969 in Trenton, Mo and Travis Clark Campbell was born in 1973 in Des Moines, Ia. The couple were divorced with Janice retaining her maiden name.
Janice and her family loved the rodeo world, following her son Travis through his Missouri Valley Rodeo College team and his championship saddle bronc riding with the Missouri Rodeo Association and the United Rodeo Association. Janice enjoyed the NASCAR racing along with her daughter Tracy.
Janice is survived by her parents, George and Letty McAlister of Harrisonville, MO, daughter Tracy Campbell of Harrisonville, MO, son Travis (Julia) Campbell of Moberly, MO, brother Dennis (Glenda) McAlister of Checotah, OK, and her grandchildren, Taysha Nowland, Jessica Marso, Claire Marso, and Callie Campbell, and her great-grandson Joshua Sly, nephew Justin McAlister, niece Kelly Brewer, and great nieces and nephews, Shakota McAlister, McKenzie McAlister, Riley McAlister, Brandon (Liz) Hall, Stevi (Shawn) Haffa, Dakota Mitchell, Hailey Riddle, Kara Riddle, and great-niece and nephew, Dallas Hall and Savannah Hall.
Janice is preceded in death by grandparents Monroe and Alta Brown Veach and Melcha and Bessie McAlister.
Cremation and final resting place planned for a later date in Colcord, Ok.
A Celebration of Life Visitation was held Monday, November 12, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggests contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
