Obituary for Jeffery Lee Cox

Jeffery Lee Cox of Leavenworth, Kansas was born July 3, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Arthur Martin Cox and Glenda Alice (Willis) Jamison. He departed this life on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 25 days.

Jeffery was employed as a concrete finisher for many years. He was an avid TV watcher especially the Chiefs and the Royals, loved to fish which was his favorite activity, and did some woodworking. He loved sports and when he was younger he pitched in a Junior League and made the news in the local paper. Jeffery had a great arm but didn’t pursue the sport because life got in his way. He served in the Marine Corps for 10 years and was an excellent marksman in shooting. Family was very important to Jeffery and was the “favorite” uncle among his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cox who he was close to.

Jeffery is survived by his son, James Lee Cox, Lansing, Kansas; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Corrigan, Columbus, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, Kody Lemke, Samantha Corrigan, Gabrielle Nichols, Brittney Wolters and Dahila Cox; two great-grandchildren, Aeva and Aurora; a step-daughter, Jessie Keister, Adrian, Missouri; his mother and step-father, Glenda and Bruce Jamison, Shawnee, Kansas; two brothers, Alfred Lee Cox, North Kansas City, Missouri, Michael Lee Cox, Bolivar, Missouri; two sisters, Lisa Seigler, Garden City, Missouri, Catherine Ann Gehring, Shawnee, Kansas; his step-mother, Barbara Cox, Gladstone, Missouri; a step-sister, Patty Icenhour, Gladstone, Missouri; two step-brothers, Harvey Monroe, Blue Springs, Missouri, Tommy Monroe, Smithville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the New Covenant Fellowship, 30815 S State Route F, Garden City, Missouri.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Training Center Christian School, Garden City, Missouri.

There will be a reception following the service at his sisters home, Lisa Seigler, 808 Orchid, Garden City, MO 64747

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
