Jennifer Lee Carpenter

October 7, 1973 — June 4, 2020

Jennifer came to the Public Administrator’s office on April 22, 2003. At that time, Jennifer lived independently and when that wasn’t entirely successful, Jennifer’s journey began. She lived in 7 different placements in the last 11 ½ years and a few more prior to that time. She was tormented with a terrible mental illness, as you all know, and yet, we all loved her very sweet spirit. Jennifer was also tormented with tremendous weight loss and subsequent gains. I felt so sorry for her as her burdens were great.

Jennifer loved crafts, painting, music and television and I am not sure how many televisions we purchased Jennifer over the years. You see, Jennifer would give her things to others never suspecting that they were just manipulating her. In fact, when the virus subsided to the point that I could actually visit care centers again, I was planning on purchasing and delivering another television for Jennifer on my next visit. She recently reported that while she was at St. Alexis, someone broke her television. Such was Jennifer’s life.

Jennifer was sweet and caring and often tearful, worried about her issues or what she had done and I thank each of you for prayers with and for Jennifer and the comforting words you offered her in her troubled times. Despite her tearfulness, Jennifer never stopped loving others and I am sure that she told almost everyone she called regularly, that she loved them. I know that she desperately sought love and we tried very hard to dispense that love generously to Jennifer when she called.

A few years ago, Jennifer was baptized at Harrisonville Community Church and sincerely loved Jesus, which she affirmed many times. She asked for spiritual music and spiritual guidance a number of times. I know that Jesus loves Jennifer and was with her throughout her journey. She will be missed by many people and we will never stop loving Jennifer Lee Carpenter. …until we meet again.
