Jerry Allen Woolery, 68, of Peculiar, Missouri passed away April 21, 2016 at the VA Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri after a courageous 3 year battle with prostrate cancer.
Jerry was born October 7, 1947 to Emery R. and Edyth J. (Coskey) Woolery, whom preceded him in death. His childhood was spent on the family farm near East Lynne, Missouri. He attended East Lynne Elementary School and graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1966. Jerry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of the East Lynne Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
Jerry was an over the road truck driver for 43 years, retiring in October, 2012. After retirement, he kept active on the farm. Wherever Jerry went, Chester, his dog, was right there beside him. He loved being in his John Deere tractor, camping and trail riding on Clyde, his horse.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #8220, Belton, Missouri and a lifetime member of the Owners-Operators Independent Drivers Association.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Marie, of the home; a son, Keith (Katie), Gladstone, Missouri; a step-daughter, Kimberly (Joe) Cooney, Camdenton, Missouri; a step-son, Michael Bradley, Belton, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Clifford Woolery, East Lynne, Missouri, Leonard Woolery, Garden City, Missouri, Mike Woolery, Holden, Missouri; two sisters, Judy Pajer, Kansas City, Kansas, Nancy LaGore, Higginsville, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the West Union Cemetery near Peculiar, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to the American Cancer Society.
