Jerry Lee Hammond, Sr. was born September 4, 1947 in Jeffersonville, IN. He passed away on June 22, 2013 in Pleasant Hill, MO.
He was married to Joyce Hammond on May 24, 1979.
Jerry served his country in the Vietnam war and was awarded a Bronze star for his sacrifice and bravery.
He was a hard worker, dedicating much of his career working as an electrician at General Motors Fairfax plant in Kansas City, KS until retirement in 2007. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family and pets at their home in the country outside Pleasant Hill, MO. He also liked to travel, taking many trips with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeniece Hammond of Independence, MO,and his sister, Karen Sue Barnhart of Blue Springs, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hammond, of Pleasant Hill, MO as well as his son, Jerry Hammond Jr of Pheonix, AZ, and his daughter, Megan Rogers of Springfield, MO. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
