Jessie Dean Cornett Sr., of Creighton, Missouri, was born December 22, 1939 in Parker, Kansas the son of Robert Franklin and Helen Marie (Fritts) Cornett. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at his home surrounded by love and family at the age of 74 years and 1 month.
On December 1, 1960, Jessie was united in marriage to Margie Belle Kirk in Urich, Missouri.
Jessie was a farmer and stockman and later was a truck driver for JB Hunt and after his retirement went back to farming. He was an Army Veteran, a rock and gem collector, loved to hunt and fish, loved all kinds of animals, was a bee keeper, an avid reader and would read anything he could get his hands on.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Correnna Yvette Cornett; a great-grandson, Avery Cornett and 3 infant brothers.
Jessie is survived by his wife Margie Cornett of the home; his three sons, Jessie Cornett Jr. and his wife Nancy, Creighton, Missouri, Robert Franklin Cornett and James Flint Cornett both of the home; two daughters, Joyce Elaine Cornett, Creighton, Missouri, and Michelle Renia Branson, Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Larry Cornett and his wife Glenda, Osceola, Missouri; one sister, Elsie Marie Verdict, Rogers, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Correnna, Jessie III, Courtney, Daniel, and Derek; eight great-grandchildren; a family friend, Tanisha Falley; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Parker Cemetery near Creighton.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Lakes Hospice.
