Jill Dresker Martin Check of Harrisonville, Missouri was born August 13, 1950 in Overland Park, Kansas. She was the daughter of Paul Martin and Jean Wooten. She departed this life Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at her home in Harrisonville at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 8 days. On November25, 1967, Jill was united in marriage to Dwight Edmund Check at Olathe, Kansas. Jill and Dwight moved to Harrisonville in 1972 and in 1975 bought their dream house, a Victorian home on East Pearl Street. For the next 34 years, they worked together as a team to remodel and bring that home to the show place it is today. Jill and Dwight raised three daughters in that home. Jill volunteered at the Harrisonville Schools and spent countless hours taking care of sick children in the health room. Her love of medicine and helping people steered her to a long career in health care services. She had a strong desire to serve her community and in 1996 she campaigned for a seat on the Harrisonville Board of Aldermen. She was successful and dedicated her service to the city for 11 years. She was a member of the Harrisonville Mennonite Church and had a deep love for the small care group that she and Dwight attended weekly. Jill is survived by her husband of 42 years, Dwight; three daughters-- Lisa Marie Kohman and her husband Jim of Great Bend, Kansas ; Melissa Madeline Dorazil and her husband Dan of Huntley, Illinois; and Susan Gail Caldwell and her husband James of Pueblo, Colorado; Eight grandchildren?Jake, Ryan, and Nick Kohman; Matthew, Kristin and Nathan Dorazil; and Jessie and Mandy Caldwell? Her Mother-In-Law Madeline Check of Freeman, Missouri; Her brother Paul Martin of Shawnee, Kansas ; Captain Nemo of Harrisonville and other relatives and a host of friends. Jill will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Cremation. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Harrisonville Mennonite Church with inurnment in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Life Choice Center for Women.
