Jo Anne Miller of Harrisonville Missouri, was born April 13, 1930 in Creighton, MO, the daughter of Willard and Flossie Bell (Heller) Douglas. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday September 14, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 1 day. She was united in marriage on October 15, 1954 to George C. Miller of Garden City, MO.
Jo Anne loved the Lord and was a member of the Creighton Christian Church. She handmade many beautiful quilts in addition to knitting and crocheting an untold number of bandages for overseas missions. She also enjoyed crocheting hats, scarves, and mittens for the Kansas City homeless shelters and Kansas City inner city children. Jo Anne also loved cooking; in her later years she baked for the Friendship Meals for Garden City Christian Church two days a week.
Jo Anne was preceded in death by twin infant brothers and an infant sister as well as her sister Jean Wagoner.
Jo Anne is survived by her husband of 57 years, George C. Miller of the home; two daughters, Linda Dickey, Jefferson City MO and Vickie Hoshor and her husband Dan, Lee’s Summit MO; a son Ronnie Miller, Harrisonville MO; 4 grandchildren, Scott Dickey, Susie Szumigala, Mike Armstrong and Cory Hoshor; 9 great-grandchildren, Rachel Leon, Megan Dickey, Jill, J.C., Jennifer, Jeffrey and Jaymee Szumigala, Luke & Lily Armstrong; one great-great-grandson, Jackson Leon; a brother, Bill Douglas, Merritt Island, FL; two sisters, Janice Coy, Kansas City, MO, Judy Hartzler, Garden City, MO; as well as many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Burial will be in the Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Meals, Garden City, Missouri.
