John D. Bruns

John D. Bruns, 93, of Pleasant Hill was born December, 25, 1922 the son of William and Mable Bruns. He died January 22, 2016, at the Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore.
On August 10, 1944, John married the girl of his dreams Flora “Bebe” Garcia, in Los Angeles, California. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2012.
John retired as a Police Detective for the Los Angeles Police Department in 1974. He returned to Pleasant Hill to live out his years hunting and trapping, as well as traveling with his beloved Bebe.
John enjoyed aviation and piloted single engine aircrafts. He was a member of the Ararat Flying Fez assisting burned and crippled children in receiving medical care through the Shrine Burn Centers. John was also an active member in the Masons, Reseda Lodge.
Besides his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his sister Billy Jean “Jinx” Caulfield.
John is survived by his loving daughter Jeannette (Bruns) Herrera, JD, as well as five sons John W. Bruns, DDS, Joseph Bruns, General Contractor, James Bruns, Esq., Jerry Bruns, MD., Jeff Bruns, PhD.
The Recitation of the Rosary was held Friday, January 29, 2016, followed by a visitation at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church, in Pleasant Hill. Monsignor Robert Murphy will officiate. Military services and interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Navy and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Jim Wasson, Dean Gray, Nathan Hibbs, Dean Armstrong, Jonathan Bruns, and Teresa Gray.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Rifle Association and may be sent to the funeral home.
