John W. Larcom

July 21, 1937 — January 4, 2015

John Wesley Larcom was born to Ralph Glen and Edna Rose Larcom (Ball) on July 21, 1937 in Eureka, Kansas and departed this life on January 4, 2015 on his farm in Garden City, Missouri.

With his family, John moved to a farm near Humansville, Missouri at the age of nine. He was united in marriage to Billie Jo Stacy on June 30, 1956 in Humansville.

John and his growing family moved to Kansas City where John began his career at the General Motors Plant. While living in Raytown, the family got involved with Rodeo Kids, a program involving horse trick riding and other skills. John thoroughly enjoyed watching his daughters and sons perform and assisting them as the Ring Master. After living in town for a few years, John got the itch to move back to the country to allow the horses and kids to roam. In 1972, he and his family purchased a small farm north of Garden City, Missouri. After 28 years of service, John retired from General Motors in 1987. After retirement, John kept busy with different jobs at Wal-Mart and working with Billie testing milk quality with DHIA. Although John enjoyed these post-retirement jobs, none were as enjoyable as the time he spent with his wife Billie as campground hosts at state parks in Wyoming and Missouri. John and Billie loved hosting campers and sharing stories about each others lives. John also kept busy playing cards games such as pitch, working on his farm, fishing, camping, and simply enjoying his multitude of grandkids and great-grandkids. John always kept cows and horses on his farm throughout the years. In 2005, John and Billie moved to Garden City, Missouri were he resided until his death. John accepted Christ into his life while attending Bethany Assembly of God in Kansas City, Kansas, and was attending Harrisonville Community Church in Harrisonville until his death.

John is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jim Larcom.

John is survived by his wife, Billie, of the home, two sons, Kenny of Harrisonville; Stephen and wife Tammy of Garden City; Four daughters, Debbie Snelling and husband Stan of Kansas City; Brenda Moreland and husband Jay of Harrisonville; Cathy Smith and husband Scott of Garden City; and Christi Calbaugh and husband Darren of Haltom City, TX; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen Larcom, 3 sisters, Vergie Hopkins; Charlotte Bays; Venita Othick all of Humansville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
