Johnnie Diane Stoneking, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born January 21, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of John David and Althea Alberta (Thomas) Ethington. She departed this life on Monday, March 2, 2015 at her home succumbing to her long battle with brain and lung cancer at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 10 days.
On July 4, 1975, Johnnie was united in marriage to Nelson Lee Stoneking in Independence, Missouri.
Johnnie was employed as a fork lift driver for Peterson's and then at Zaraga's in Belton, Missouri. She enjoyed crocheting, flower arranging, gardening and loved going to tractor pulls. Johnnie was learning to play the guitar and dobro. She had lived in Raytown, Grandview and Stover, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Ethington; her husband, Nelson (Stoney) Stoneking on July 24, 2007; a step-daughter, Diane Stoneking Gumminger.
Johnnie is survived by her mother, Alberta Ethington; a sister, Sharon Faith and a brother, David Ethington all of Harrisonville, Missouri; 7 step-children, Robert Stoneking, Versailles, Missouri, Jeff Stoneking, Chilhowee, Missouri, Nelson Stoneking Jr., Sedalia, Missouri, Scott Stoneking, Raymore, Missouri, Debbie Stoneking Burt, Sequin, Texas, Micki Stoneking, Cedar Springs, Michigan, Tammy Robbins, Cloverdale, California; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; two brother-in-laws, Fredd Stoneking, Springfield, Missouri and Carl Stoneking, Blairstown, Missouri; sister-in-laws, Shirley Brown, Galena, Missouri, Janie Milligan, Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Judy Stoneking; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Salem Cemetery near Blairstown, Missouri.
