Jose Hernandez

December 4, 1919 — November 22, 2007

Jose Antonio Hernandez (Tony) in his earthly home with loving family surrounding him was taking to his heavenly home with the Lord on November 22, 2007 at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 18 days. The son of Esteban and Miquela Hernandez, he was born in Hondo, New Mexico, December 4, 1919.
Jose entered into marriage with Nedra LaVerne Crawford on August 23, 1943 in Great Falls, Montana while serving in the army during WW2. Jose had lived in Garden City for the past forty-eight years and retired from General Motors. He was a member of the New Covenant Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nedra, an infant son, Daniel, and a brother, Charlie, and a two sisters, Connie and Annie.
He is survived by three sons and five daughters, Christine Smith (Dave) of DeKalb, Mo., Glenda Giesken (Jake) of Wilcox, Mo., Tony Joe Hernandez, Garden City, Mo., Charles David (Rhonda) Hernandez, of Garden City, Mo., Mildred (Thomas) Westerholm, Hunnam la, Sweden, Teresa Gay, of the home, Vannessa Conger, Garden City, Mo., Deneice (Allen) Beggs, Guilford, Mo. and Paul (Lori) Hernandez, Garden City, Mo. Jose had 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, with several step grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 brothers, 3 sisters, one sister-in-law and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
