Karl Henry Bates Jr

Karl Henry ""Junior"" Bates of Garden City, Mo. was born December 31, 1942 near Urich, Mo. the son of Karl Henry and Ethel Lucille (Gibb) Bates Sr. He departed this life on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Lee's Summit Medical Center, Lee's Summit, Mo. at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 13 days.
On September 14, 1962, Junior was united in marriage to Glenda ""Candy"" Taylor in Garden City, Mo.
Junior was employed as a machinist for Pittman Manufacturing Company, Grandview, Mo. for several years. Later, he and his son, Mike owned and operated Bates Construction Company, Garden City. Junior was also a farmer and had been employed at NECO Seeds, Stockade Buildings and Schrock Hardwoods all of Garden City. He was a faithful member of Freedom Point Church, Garden City and was a 1961 graduate of Garden City High School. Junior was the happiest when he was around his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sons, Christopher and Christian; a grandson, Keeton Stutzman; 2 brothers, Max S. Bates and Stewart D. ""Clem"" Bates.
He is survived by his wife, Candy Bates of the home; a son, Mike Bates and wife, Marilyn, a daughter, Monica Stutzman and husband, Kyle all of Garden City, Mo.; 7 grandchildren, Kelcey, Kylie, Stanten, Rebecca, Sarah, Caleb and Emily; a gt-grandson, Bryce; a brother, Oren L. Bates, Peculiar, Mo.; 2 sisters, Blanche Litle and Nancy Durnell both of Harrisonville, Mo.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Point Church Memorial Fund.
