Katherine McCarthy Schrock

Katherine Elizabeth McCarthy Schrock was born July 4, 1911 in Garden City to Joseph Ami and Lydia Katherine (Schrock) Miller. She departed this life on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Courtyard Healthcare in Goshen, IN at the age of 104 years, 9 months and 5 days.
On June 4, 1944 she married John “Jack” G. McCarthy. He died Dec. 22, 1964. On Aug. 13, 1967 she married Albert R. Schrock. He died Oct. 20, 1983.
She is survived by four children, John (Ann) McCarthy, Huntersville, North Carolina; Mary Kay (Stan) Eichelberger, Franktown, Colorado; Theresa (Don) Gunden, Goshen , Ind. and Michael (Chere) McCarthy, Liberal, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Deirdre (David) Houk, Joel Eichelberger, Jon (Charmian) Eichelberger, Katy (Pat) Amann, Andrea (Ben) Meloche, Ross Gunden and Heidi McCarthy; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Eleanor Kochsmeier, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; a great-grandson, Pearce Eichelberger and three brothers, Norman, J. Emerson and S. Paul Miller.
Katherine was a lifelong Cass County resident until moving to Arizona in 1984. She graduated from Goshen College and was a longtime third grade teacher at Harrisonville Elementary School. She was instrumental in starting Kinder Kastle and Harrisonville Christian School.
She moved to the Goshen area in May 2013 coming from Glendale, Arizona where she was a member of Desert Hills Evangelical Church.
The family received friends on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville. A 3:00 p.m. graveside services followed at Clearfork Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be given to Harrisonville Christian School, 1606 Chapel Drive, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
Final arrangements entrusted to Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
