Laura Louise Chennault, 48, Independence, Missouri, formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away at her home on Friday, November 17, 2006.
Laura was born to Linda Killingsworth Chennault and Bill E. Chennault on August 17, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri, and moved to Harrisonville in 5th grade. She attended school in Harrisonville and later attended college at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. She worked in retail sales for years and most of her life she had more than one job at a time. For the last 10 years, she was employed at the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Independence.
Laura had a zest for life that most of us can only hope for. She loved life even though she was faced with tragedies throughout her short time here. She lost her father at the age of 5 and her dear mother at the age of 33. She was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 11. Throughout all the hard times, Laura was still able to be positive about life and live hers to the fullest. She was of Christian faith and read her Bible daily. She was able to share her faith with everyone she came in contact with to let them all know how blessed we all are and to be thankful for every day. She was blessed with a brother Bill and a sister Leighann, 3 beautiful nieces Jessica, Taylor, and Tara and her stepfather, Ben Alburtis. She was also very close to her cousins GennaLee Burnam and her husband Bill and Cynthia Morrell. Laura loved her family more than anything. She always looked forward to spending time with them no matter what the occasion. She especially loved the holidays. Any holiday!
Laura was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 4 years. She, as well as her family and friends, were so proud of her accomplishments. She was able to beat yet another disease with the help of her dear friends she met while attending meetings and her undying determination. She not only gained personal peace and accomplishment from this process but she gained a very close family of friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors left to mourn her passing include her brother Bill Chennault and daughter Jessica, Blue Springs, Missouri, sister Leighann Pratt and daughters Taylor of Columbia, Missouri and Tara of Lees Summit, Missouri, Stepfather Ben Alburtis, Hot Springs, Arkansas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other family and friends. She will also be deeply missed by her dear friends which are literally too many to mention, but specifically, Debbie Winders of Collins, Missouri, Diane Noble and Denise Miller. And to Wes, who made her last years fuller with the companionship and love that he gave her.
And in final, Laura and her unwavering spirit and positive attitude would often say that she was too blessed to be stressed, and to grateful to be hateful. And this was certainly true for Laura. We were all blessed having her in our lives. We are at peace knowing that she is at peace now.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the First Christian Church, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
