Leila Craig

November 21, 1942 — October 30, 2016

Leila Ellen Dinges Craig, 73, of Pleasant Hill, was born November 21, 1942, in Kansas City, the daughter of Herschel and Nina (Capps) King. She departed this life, Sunday, October 30, 2016, at her home surrounded with love and family.
She was first united in marriage to Harold Dinges; he survives although they are divorced. She later married Bobby Craig. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker. After raising her children, she owned and operated the Jot-em-Down store in downtown Pleasant Hill. She was often outspoken and abrupt, and you always knew what she was thinking, but behind her tough exterior she had a heart of pure gold. She had a passion for taking care of others; doing so at the expense of her own health, essentially putting others before herself. She also enjoyed antiques and caring for animals.
Leila was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeff Dinges; one brother Jesse Capps; and two sisters, Jessie Marie Johnson and Phyllis Porter.
She is survived by three sons, James (and Linda ) Dinges of Union Town, Ohio; J.R. (and Sandy) Dinges of Lane, Kansas, and Tony Dinges of Sedalia; four daughters, Rene Randall of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; Carla (and Rick Bowen) Hayes of Pleasant Hill, Amy (and Jerod) Kirk of Lee’s Summit; and Rachel (and John) Dunkle of Grain Valley; one sister, Jackie (and Mark) Green of Leonard Town, Maryland; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services and inurnment were held Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. J.R. Dinges and family will officiate.
Following services at the cemetery, the family will host a memorial gathering at the Pleasant Hill Memorial Building (212 Cedar St.). All are invited.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Serenity Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
