Linda Louise Winfrey, 69, of Kingsville, Missouri, was born, April 1, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy Ethel (Terrill) Ray. She departed this life at 11:45 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Research Hospital, Kansas City.
Linda was a 1963 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.
On November 3, 1963, she was united in marriage to Laverne Wesley “Bud” Winfrey, Jr.in Pleasant Hill.
Linda was employed as a Technician for Western Electric in Lee’s Summit. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and camping. She especially loved spending time with her grandsons.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Gene Ray.
She is survived by her husband “Bud” of Kingsville; one daughter and son-in-law Dana and Keith Carter of Lone Jack; two grandsons Kyle and Klay of Lone Jack; two brothers Kenneth (and Paula) Ray of Holt, and Dennis (and Diana) Ray of Pleasant Hill; one sister Sandra Pope of Kingsville; one sister-in-law, Jan Ray; other relatives; and a host of many friends.
Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church will officiate. Casket bearers are Klay Carter, Kyle Carter, Austin Ray, Danny Ray, Jamie Ray, and Kevin Ray. Honorary casket bearers are Keith Carter, Dennis Ray, and Kenneth Ray. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118 Veterans Relief fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
