Lloyd R. Carter

April 30, 1955 — August 13, 2013

Lloyd R. Carter, 58, of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 1:13pm at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville, Missouri.
He was born on April 30, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles Carter, who preceded him in death, and Nancy Carter Sipes of Harrisonville. Being the first-born, he is survived by Charlene Pinckney, sister, Junction City, Kansas; Richard Carter, brother, Archie; Cindy Ferguson, sister, Holden; Barbara Grey, sister, Oak Harbor, Washington; Charles Sipes, brother, Independence; and Timothy Sipes, brother, Phoenix, Arizona.
He learned from his step-dad, Bodean Sipes, Kingsville, how to do upholstery as a teen-ager and enjoyed many memories of that time. After he graduated from Pleasant Hill, in 1973, Lloyd joined the Army and served for twelve years from 1974 to 1986, from Fort Hood, Texas, to duty in Saudi Arabia. He served in Civil Service in Heidelberg, Germany from 1986 to 1996 in his forte as a Telecommunications Specialist.
Upon his return to the States in 1996, Lloyd lived in Ohio. He returned back to Harrisonville in late 2,000, with his wife, Faith L. Konink, who he is survived by. He attended and graduated from Vatterott College in 2005. He has worked at Newspaper Electronics in Kansas City; Tallgrass Technologies in Lenexa, Kansas and recently, at Technology Group Solutions in Lenexa, Kansas.
Lloyd is survived by three children; Jerrod Carter, son, Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Sandra Carter, daughter, Heidelberg, Germany; and Benjamin Carter, son, Heidelberg, Germany. He is survived by three grandchildren.
Lloyd’s wishes were to advocate for a cure for Esophageal Cancer. There is now an epidemic of this type of cancer. He wished for everyone to keep yearly check-ups and to research and know all the symptoms that occur. Once you are diagnosed with this type of cancer it is in Stage Four and is not curable. There is research being done, but at this time it is up to each of us to keep those yearly doctor appointments and utilize good nutrition. Therefore, the family suggests that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (specify Esophageal Cancer), in lieu of flowers.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4409, 1804 N. Commercial Street, Harrisonville, Missouri 64701.
