LOIS DOLL WAINWRIGHT was born on June 2, 1926, to Charlie and Della (Parker) Doll near Mayesburg, Missouri in Bates County. She received her education in the Bates County Schools, graduating from Ballard High School in 1943 and later attended college at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.
On June 20, 1944, Lois was united in marriage to Paul Marvin Wainwright, and the couple moved to the Garden City area in 1947. She began working at the Garden City Bank in 1959 and worked there until her retirement in 2001 – a total of 41 years.
Lois accepted Christ as her personal savior when she was a young girl, and was a member of the Mayesburg Church of God. As an adult, she was an active member of the Dayton Community Church where she taught an adult Sunday School class for many years.
Lois was an active member of the Garden City Chapter No. 340, Order of the Eastern Star; American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 498; and Messiah White Shrine No. 26. Over the course of her life, Lois greatly enjoyed gardening. Her green thumb allowed her to have numerous house plants and flowers in and around her home. In recent years, she enjoyed volunteering her time at veterans’ and nursing homes in the area.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, four half-siblings, her brother Charles Doll, Jr., and in 1998, her husband Marvin. She is survived by two sons and a daughter: Larry (and wife Terri) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Roger (and wife Jan) of Raymore, Missouri; and Paula Birt (and husband George) of Kansas City, Missouri…one granddaughter, Alexa Birt….three step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
On the morning of May 2, Lois quietly closed this chapter of her earthly life and moved onto her heavenly home to be with the Lord and her departed husband, family and friends. She was a loving, caring woman and will be deeply missed.
Visitation was held Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri.
An Eastern Star service were held Friday, May 5, 2017 with the funeral service following at the funeral home. Burial is in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Order of the Easter Star #340, Garden City, Missouri.
