Lorene Anna Hocker

Lorene Anna Hocker, 86, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Tuesday, April 13, 1926 in Franklin, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur William and Emma Louise (Schroer) Hackmann. She departed this life at 9:35 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded with love and family.
On August 15, 1948, Lorene was united in marriage to Joseph Edwin Hocker in New Franklin, Missouri. He preceded her in death seven months earlier on November 16, 2012.
During World War II, Lorene moved to Kansas City and went to work for Pratt & Whitney. Following the war she went to work for Sears. Later she became a dedicated and loving homemaker, as well as the book keeper for her husband’s business Hocker Brothers Construction.
She was a member of the Harrisonville First Christian Church. She had also been an active member of the Plum Grove Extension for over 50 years, the Plum Grove 4-H Club, a leader in both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts, and the Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Lorene is survived by one son Roger (and Cheri) Hocker of Kingsville; two daughters Janice (and Tom) Britz of Peculiar, and Carol (and Junior) Ross of Pleasant Hill; Eight grandchildren; Twenty-one great grandchildren; Five great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Reverend Adam Harmon of the Harrisonville Christian Church will officiate. Interment is in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Rick Aldrige, Jared Britz, Travis Britz, Ryan Droege, Travis Minor, Marty Ross, and Monty Ross.
Memorial contributions are the suggested to Harrisonville First Christian Church Memorial Fund or Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
