Lorene Roth

July 7, 1912 — September 9, 2013

Lorene, adopted daughter of Isaac G. and Mary (Miller) Hartzler, was born July 7, 1912, and was raised near East Lynne, Missouri. She went to be with the Lord from her Casa Del Sol Retirement Center home in La Junta, Colorado on September 9, 2013.
Lorene grew up in the Mennonite faith and considered Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church of Garden City, Missouri her lifetime, home church. She was baptized at age 13. Lorene moved to Colorado in September of 1993 and attended the Rocky Ford Mennonite Church faithfully for her last 20 years. Her memoirs are filled with her love for the church, quilting, flowers, and the details of church life and work going back to her childhood.
On Sunday, November 22, 1931, Lorene married Earl Joseph Roth after dating for about 1 ½ years. To this union was born 4 children.
Surviving Lorene are daughter Mary Erlene (Roth) Schlegel of La Junta, Colorado; daughter Lena Marie (Roth) Piatt and husband Fred of Rocky Ford, Colorado; son Everett Joseph Roth and wife Gatha of Peculiar, Missouri; son Galen Leroy Roth and wife Marie of Harrisonville, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Joseph; sister Edna; sister Josephine; brother Henry (Hank); brother George; 1 grandchild; and 1 great-grandchild.
Lorene will be remembered as a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her considerations of others was always paramount, a bright and excited smile her faithful greeting. Her beautiful quilts, quilting articals, paintings, and embroidery were precisions works of artistry which she continued to produce past her 100th birthday. They are numerous and were spread generously amongst friends, family, churches, and neighbors. She was a blessing to all.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church, Garden City, Missouri with interment in Clearfork Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
