Loyal George

April 11, 1918 — March 1, 2017

Loyal George, of Garden City, MO departed this life on March 1, 2017 at the age of 98. He was born April 11, 1918 the son of Earnest W. and Martha Ellen George in Wamego, KS.

He married Lena Faye Brown on April 25th, 1953 who preceded him in death in 2006.

Loyal served with the United States Navy in World War II and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was on board the USS Tennessee on the morning of December 7, 1941 and was active in the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association in Springfield, MO. He was a 32-degree Mason, Scottish Rite and retired as a Journeyman Electrician from Local Union # 124, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Kansas City. He also operated a farm in Garden City where he raised beef cattle, horses, crops and did custom hay with his neighbors.

Loyal was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Fern (Otis) and Winifred (Milford) and two brothers, Willis and Donald (Carol). He was also Uncle to Loran (JoAnn) George of Topeka, KS, Marvin (Sharon) Ganger of OFallon, IL, and John (Joyce) Ganger of Carbondale, KS.

Loyal is survived by three daughters, Jan Gaylene George of Kansas City, Loy Ann George of the farm in Garden City, and Susan Rene (Robert) Farr of Marthasville, MO. He also leaves behind his Grandchildren, Joe and Rachelann Farr of St. Charles, MO and Danny and Amy DeAngelo of Raymore. He also has two Great Grandchildren, Lucas Ryan Farr and Zoey Elizabeth Farr.

Loyal was a hard-working provider for his family. He was deeply devoted to his family, his country, and his God. He was known for his horse sense and maintaining the health of his animals and his land. He accepted the responsibility of raising children very seriously and will be remembered through all the things he taught his family.

The Veterans Home in Warrensburg knew Loyals visitors because they usually included a dog or three. He was straight forward in his dealings with others and unceasingly honest.

Cremation. A Masonic Service was held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with a Celebration of Life Service to immediately follow.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Assistance League at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. Please make checks payable to the Veterans Assistance League and may be left at the Dickey Funeral Home.
