Margaret Faye Cumings

Mrs. Margaret Faye Cumings of Harrisonville, Missouri was born on March 24, 1919 in Pueblo, Colorado the daughter of Earl Nelson and Minnie Faye (Winters) Fritz. Her mother passed away after giving birth to Margaret and was raised by her grandparents, David and Effie Fritz in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She departed this life on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 22 days.
On August 30, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage to Charles A. Kranhold and later married Kenneth O. Cumings on July 11, 1944 in Girard, Kansas.
Margaret was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the BPW and American Legion Auxiliary all of Harrisonville. She had moved to Sacramento, California where her 1st. husband, Charles was killed in an accident on December 25, 1941. Margaret moved to Chanute, Kansas to be near her family and where she gave birth to her son, Charles in June of 1942. She had attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota and received a degree in Elementary Education. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, playing cards and bingo. Margaret had lived in Chanute, Kansas until moving to Harrisonville in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Earl Nelson Fritz who passed away in 1996 but not before celebrating his 100th birthday along with his twin brother, Merle Fritz. Her first husband, Charles, her second husband, Kenneth O. Cumings on December 30, 2004.
Margaret is survived by a son, Charles E. Cumings and wife, Janice, Harrisonville, Missouri; two daughters, Linda K. Baker, Harrisonville, Missouri, Eileen Stuart and husband, Kent, Linwood, Kansas; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Graveside service were held March 19, 2010 at the Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, KS.
