Mrs. Martha Carol Frein, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born April 29, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of William Walter and Consuelo Loretta (Laub) Turner. She departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
On August 4, 1956, Martha was united in marriage to Donald Elmo Frein in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Martha was employed as a nurse at the office of her husband, Donald E. Frein, M.D. Prior to that she was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City; before her marriage, she taught nursing classes at Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville. Martha served two terms on the Harrisonville School Board as well as several years as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was a patron of both the Nelson-Atkins Museum and the Missouri Repertory Theater in Kansas City. She was an avid reader, a passion which she passed on to her children. Martha also loved gardening and bird watching.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by Donald E. Frein, M.D. on February 14, 2011.
Martha is survived by sons: Bill Frein and wife Julie of Baltimore, Maryland; Paul Frein and wife Betsy of Grandview, Missouri; Matthew Frein and wife Candace of Bloomington, Minnesota; daughters: Beth Frein of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Ruth Best of Gary, Indiana; grandchildren: Nate, Aaron, Victoria and Katrina; sisters: Joan Richardson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sylvia Nath of Peoria, Illinois; Adrienne Carney of Prior Lake, Minnesota; other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass was held Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville Public Library.
Cremation with inurnment in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, Missouri.
