Mary C. Hocker age 90 of Lee's Summit, Missouri formerly of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Wilshire at Lakewood, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Mary was born December 28,1922 in rural Ballard, MO to James F and Ethel M (Clark) McClenny. She grew up on a farm and graduated with the Ballard High School Class of 1941. She married Albert (Glenn) Hocker January 10, 1942. After Glenn returned from serving his country during World War II they eventually settled in Harrisonville where they raised their family and remained until 2003. With declining health they moved to the Wilshire at Lakewood Care Facility in Lee's Summit, MO.
Mary was a very selfless, caring and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was an inspiration to her children. Mary was a wonderful cook and housekeeper. She, her mother and sisters were lovingly known as "The Mean Clean McClenny Girls" by their spouses. The kitchen was her domain. Her cinnamon rolls were a family favorite, sweet and unique.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Rosalee McClenny, Dorthy F Goodrich, Mildred J Hays Aldridge and an infant brother.
Mary is survived by son Ron Hocker (Linda), daughter Mary Ann Moore (Steve), son Larry Hocker (Carol), son Garry Hocker (Paula), sister Ellen Jane Eidson, grandchildren Brad Hocker, Clay Hocker, Matt Hocker, Randy Richerson, Nick Moore, Holly Elliott, Scott Hocker, Jeff Hocker, Marschel Hocker, Monica Carter, twenty four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services were held 10 am., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with burial in the Orient Cemetery.
Visitation was held 6:30-8 pm, Monday, August 26, 2013 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the The First Christian Church of Harrisonville or Crossroads Hospice.
