Mary Louise Spinning, youngest daughter of Clyde & Bertha Marsh Amos was born November 19, 1921 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She later moved to Greenwood, Mo where she met and married Grant Franklin Spinning on June 1, 1941. They lived in Pleasant Hill until moving to their farm in Garden City in 1942. To this union 3 children were born, Mary Ann, David Grant and Dan Franklin.
Grant & Mary Lou were long time members of the Garden City Christian Church. Mary Lou loved playing music, mostly the piano where she played at the church for many years and later played for the residents of Golden Years nursing home in a special time they called "Mary's Melodies". She devoted her life to helping people, caring for the elderly and cleaning homes. Her deepest love was always her family. She loved and cherished being a grandmother to all her babies.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Grant; a daughter Mary Ann; a son Danny; 2 brothers, Glen and Charles "Tom" and a sister, Margaret.
She is survived by son David and his wife Barbara of Garden City, Mo; son-in-law Robert Jones of Harrisonville, Mo; a daughter-in-law Barbara Spinning of Garden City, Mo; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She has touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery.
