Max Eugene Overbey

Max Eugene Overbey, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born March 26, 1933 in Creighton, Missouri the son of Robert Perry and Beulah Marie (Ashbrook) Overbey. He departed this life Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Truman Medical Center West, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 12 days.
On April 3, 1955, Max was united in marriage to Glenna Jean Kepner in Urich, Missouri.
Max was employed as a precision machinist for Allied Signal, Kansas City, Missouri until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement, he owned and operated Overbey?s Gun and Bait Shop in Urich. Max was a member of the Creighton Presbyterian Church, where he was baptized, the NRA and the North America Hunting and Fishing Association. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Max loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, enjoyed mowing and being with his family. He was an avid reader and liked to listen to various sporting events on the radio. Max had lived in Creighton before moving to Harrisonville in 1964.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis R. Overbey on September 7, 2003; a brother, Marion Overbey; 3 sisters, Roberta Marie Overbey, Nadine Smith and Phyllis Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Overbey of the home; three sons, Michael E. Overbey, Adrian, Missouri, Robert G. Overbey and wife Cheryl, Rose Hill, Kansas, Max D. Overbey, Kansas City, Missouri; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Overbey, Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Bobbie Bohannon, Harrisonville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Urich Cemetery, Urich, Missouri.
