Melody Ann Akes of Kansas City, Missouri was born June 21, 1964 at Sister's Hospital, St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of James Harold and Sonyia Sue (Stephens) Akes. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City at the age of 45 years, 1 month and 14 days.
Melody attended Belton High School, Belton, Missouri. She had lived most of her life in Belton before moving to Kansas City.
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Sue Akes of Collins, Missouri; three sisters, Mary S. Jones and Sandra L. Sedgwick both of Bosworth, Missouri, Pamela R. Mealer, Collins, Missouri; her grandmother, Louis Liggett, St. Joseph, Missouri; three aunts; four uncles; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with burial in the Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri.
