Milburn Lee Cook of Harrisonville, Missouri was born February 15, 1924 in Earlton, Kansas the son of William and Zola (McGaugh) Cook. He departed this life on Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 1 day.
On September 5, 1972, Milburn was united in marriage to Margaret Irene (Hopkins) Duke in Gunnison, Colorado.
Milburn retired as a miller for New Era Flour Company in Arkansas City, Kansas in 1988. He was of the Catholic faith. Milburn enjoyed his family, listening to country music and traveling the country. He was a 1942 graduate of Benedict High School in Benedict, Kansas. Milburn had lived in Arkansas City, Kansas, Bella Vista, Arkansas and Warsaw, Missouri before moving to Harrisonville, Missouri.
Besides his parents, Milburn was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Michael Cook; five brothers, Hubert, Willis, Dale, Bill and Fred; two sisters, Juanita and Mary Belle.
Milburn is survived by his wife, Margaret Cook of the home; a son, Terry Cook and wife, Elizabeth, Bastrop, Texas; a daughter, Cindy Beach and husband, Dennis, Winfield, Kansas; a step-son, John E. Hopkins and wife, Suzie, Garden City, Missouri; five grandchildren; two step-grandsons; twelve great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Cook, Godley, Texas; two sisters, Norma Jean Wescott, Chanute, Kansas; Betty Hash, Topeka, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
