Mildred Catherine Palmer of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was born May 30, 1921 near Garden City, Missouri the daughter of Charles and Annabelle E. (Sexson) Poole. She departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at John Knox Village House, Lee’s Summit at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 8 days.
On May 30, 1939, Millie was united in marriage to Leonard Ray Palmer.
Millie was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Millie enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, reading and traveling the world. She had lived in Garden City, Kansas City and Blue Springs, Missouri before moving to Lee’s Summit in 1997.
Besides her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on December 7, 1995; two brothers, Ivan and Mervin; her sister, Viola Winkler Hamilton.
Millie is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Smith and husband, Terry, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Sandra R. Collins and husband, Bill, St. Charles, Missouri; four grandchildren, Mike, Tim, Laurie and Brad; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris June Schubert, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; other relatives and a host of friends.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Dayton Cemetery, near Garden City, Missouri.
A memorial service will held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at John Knox Village Chapel, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Cold Water No Hungry Kids.
