Nan Smith, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was born January 8, 1930 in Clanwilliam Manitoba, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Melrose) Wilkinson. She departed this life Wednesday, August 20, 2008, Crown Care Center, Harrisonville at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 12 days.
Nan went to 4 years of nursing school in Canada to become a Registered Nurse. She was a nurse at the Harris Methodist Hospital, Ft. Worth, Texas until her retirement in 1995. Nan was actively involved with Meals on Wheels in Fort Worth. She was also an avid gardener and cat lover as well as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had lived in Ft. Worth, Texas before moving to Harrisonville in January 2006.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Wilkinson and a step-mother, Ellen Wilkinson.
She is survived by a son, Wayne Smith and wife Lana, Corinth, Texas; a daughter, Brenda Davis and husband Jim, Harrisonville, Missouri; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Wilkinson and a sister, Christina Pickard, Parksville, British Columbia; other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral Services were held Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs.
