Otis Dean ""Odie"" Peek, of Garden City, Mo., was born May 6, 1933 at Peculiar, Mo. the son of Albert Levi and Naomi (Winchel) Peek. He departed this life Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, Mo. at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 10 days surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly.
On August 21, 1964, Otis was united in marriage to Dorothy E. ""Dottie"" Silver in Miami, Ok. and later to Sandra Jean Shinkle on January 1, 2007 in Raymore, Mo.
Otis was employed as a custodian for Cass R-9 School District, Harrisonville, Mo. until his retirement in 2007. Earlier he had been employed by Local Union #101. Otis had also operated the Dayton Shortstop and he enjoyed his mowing job. He was a 1951 graduate of Peculiar, Mo. High School and a member of WMAT and MA and the First Baptist Church, Peculiar, Mo. Otis had lived in Peculiar before moving to the Dayton community in 1977.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Dottie Peek on May 29, 2001; one son, Allen L. Peek in September, 2004, and a grandson, Nathan Peek on August 10, 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Sandie Shinkle of the home; 2 sons, Otis D. Peek and wife Sheri, Holt, Mo. and Oren B. Peek and wife Shelly, Garden City, Mo.; 1 daughter, Orlena D. Behm and husband Lynn, Harrisonville; one stepdaughter, Shahara Allen, Long Beach, Miss.; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Lee Peek, Amoret, Mo., Sam Peek, Osceola, Mo., Richard Peek, Peculiar, Mo., Everett Peek, Penn., Billie Peek, Peculiar, Mo.; 4 sisters, Virginia Baily, Freeman, Mo., Betty Ruth Hannah, Cole, Mo., Dorothy Burch, Peculiar, Mo., Catherine Seville, Garden City, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with interment in the Dayton Cemetery near Garden City, Missouri.
