Patrick J. Hyatt

April 6, 1954 — June 26, 2009

Patrick Joseph ?Pat? Hyatt was born in Kansas City, MO on April 6, 1954 to H.H. Hyatt and Doris McClear Hyatt. Pat was the next to the youngest born of 15 children. Pat?s love for life was simple ~ his family, his home & his friends (and the t.v. remote). He leaves his wife of 27 ½ years, Bonnie Lynn (Ford) Hyatt and one son, Shawn Douglas Hyatt.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; John, William, and Phillip; a sister, Deloris Posada.
He also leaves 3 brothers, Robert and Mike Hyatt both of Gunn City, MO, Steve Hyatt, Garden City, MO; seven sisters, Jane Hutchings, Holden, MO, Barbara Younger and Montie Geier both of Grain Valley, MO, Judy Laffoon and Mary Reynolds both of Peculiar, MO, Joyce Foote, Pleasant Hill, MO, Linda Lynch, Kansas City, MO.
Pat graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1972 and lived his life in the Cass County area. Throughout most of his career, he was in partnership of H&H Construction Company, along with his brother Steve.
Pat finally realized he couldn?t live without the true love of his life when on December 4th, 1981, he and Bonnie were married. Bonnie describes Pat as ?her rock?. On May 30th, 1991, Pat gave thumbs up to Bonnie when their son Shawn Douglas Hyatt was born.
Pat was a man of few words but his quiet nature left no doubt that his love for his family was deep. God knew that all it took for Bonnie was a gentle squeeze of the knee or a playful pat on the shoulder as Pat?s way of saying ?it?ll be alright? ~ and it was. Shawn, being the only child, has a personality much like his Dad?s ~ laid back, easy going & FULL OF LIFE! He knew that all he had to do was say ?I want? and even if Pat thought it might not be necessary ? he was always in the back ground, smiling from ear to ear, when he saw Shawn looking at his new toy, his first truck, or his new guitar ? as he saw Shawn smiling from ear to ear.
If Pat had any hobbies, it would be building and selling houses. With each house he would give Bonnie the excuse ?but if we sell & rebuild, we can pay down the next house?. He also loved looking after his cattle, calling it ?his savings account?.
Pat will never know just how much he will be missed because Bonnie & Shawn can hear him now saying, ?It ain?t no big deal ? get over it?. But God knows how much he will be missed because Bonnie & Shawn can hear HIM saying, ?Fear not, for I am with you always?.
A Celebration of Life Visitation was held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri. Cremation.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Shawn Hyatt Education Fund.
