Phillip Dyer

May 1, 1932 — June 18, 2016

Phillip Edmond Dyer, 84, long-time resident of Raymore Mo, passed away on June 18, 2016. He was born May 1, 1932 to Leonard and Eva Dyer in Independence, Mo. He married Janet Earlene Bell on August 10, 1951.
Music was a big part of his life. He led church music by the age of 7. Phillip had a heart for missions, supporting missions at home and abroad, even taking mission trips. He made a point to try and read through the Bible every year. He owned and operated Dyer Construction Co. for over 40 years, and he was a bi-vocational pastor at Creighton Baptist Church and Cleveland Baptist Church. Frequently, his children remember him working six days a week on the job and spending Saturday afternoon and evening in his study preparing for his sermon on Sunday morning. Mom would make him buttered popcorn and Dr. Pepper while he prepared. Phillip was, currently, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet and his son, Craig.
Phillip is survived by his children, Gayle Page (Dean), Cheryl Dyer, Chris Dyer (Kathy), Shawn Dyer (Diana), Shannon Dyer (Laura), John Dyer (Michele), a daughter-in-law, Katie, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
