Phyllis May Riddle, 84, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 4th, 2011 at Golden Years in Harrisonville, Mo..
She was born near Waterville, Kansas on May 28th, 1926 to Robert and Hannah Jacobson. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Harbaugh county school and Waterville High School in 1943. After taking a short course at K.U. in Lawrence, Ks she moved to K.C. to work at North American Aviation Co..There she met the man she would marry, Robert L. Riddle, in 1944. They were married Sept. 7th, 1944 and lived in the Kansas City area most of their lives. They lived in Belton, Mo. in a rural area many years where Robert was a finish carpenter working on many fine homes in Johnson County, Kansas. Phyllis was a homemaker and having studied piano, was a church pianist for many years in various Baptish churches. Phyllis was a member of Heartland Baptist church in Harrisonville, Mo.
She was a very gifted lady who loved God, her families, church,friends, garden, canning, sewing, reading, caring for animals, camping, music, among many other points of interest in her life. She could do almost anything that was needed to care for not only herself but others. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, niece and nephew. Surviving are her brothers and their wifes; Ron and Rosetta Jacobson from Clay Center, Kansas; Don and Lola Jacobson, Vermillion, Ks.; Pam Jacobson, Belton, Mo.; Her spiritual adopted granddaughter, Rhonda Hedrick; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery.
Family received friends Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice or Heartland Baptist Fellowship.
